JANE VERNON, POTTER Potter's mark

Although I began as a textile artist, I now spend the largest part of my working year as a potter. I make wheel-thrown, once-fired domestic pots which are intended to be practical and robust tableware suitable for daily use. Some of these are more decorative oven dishes with animal handles which are also decorated with lustre. There is some background information about my ceramics work here.

If you would like to know something about the process of clay to pot, you may like to view the slideshow, "What goes into making a mug"

I make a wide variety of items in a number of designs but am always happy to discuss the possibility of extending the range of items if you would like something different.

Most of the designs I use regularly are shown below. Each design is produced on a selection of items (rarely the whole range in any one design.) Click on the thumbnail to see a larger image and a list of the items usually produced in each design. All photographs and the work they portray are © Copyright Jane Vernon.

Beastly Pots

Hand-made ceramics cannot compete for price with the mass-produced market but as I want my pieces to be used every day I try to keep my prices as affordable as possible, while taking into account the costs of production such as materials, kiln fuel and time.

Pots can sometimes be sent by post but postage and packing charges are extra and although I have had few breakages, they do happen. Please contact me by email to enquire about this and for further information.

The best way to buy pottery is in person and the calendar lists where and when my work can be bought.
